Inside Medelhan’s Next Place Hotel
We’re proud to share that OBMI was selected as the curatorial force behind Next Place Hotel, one of Interni magazine’s top three must-see destinations during Milan Design Week 2026, held alongside Salone del Mobile, the world’s most influential design fair.
Interni is one of the most respected architecture and design publications in the world, with over 70 years of history and an international readership spanning professionals, collectors, and cultural institutions. To be named among their top picks during Milan Design Week, arguably the most significant design event on the global calendar, is a genuine honour.

Hosted in Foro Buonaparte at the heart of Brera’s design district, Next Place Hotel is a project conceived by Medelhan to explore what hospitality might look and feel like in the future. OBMI was entrusted with the curation of the experience, transforming the space into something more than an exhibition.
The collaboration was developed under the direction of Jacqueline Tan Co, Senior Lead Designer at OBMI, who brought her characteristic attention to lived experience to the project, shaping it throughout with a hospitality-led perspective. Jacqueline reflects, “Design is never only about aesthetics; it’s about how a space feels, behaves, and connects to its context.” Details emerge at their own pace, and the overall feeling is one of ease rather than spectacle, with a deep appreciation of craft and material quality.
Alongside OBMI, a thoughtfully assembled group of partners — including A Squared, Imperfetto Lab, pulpo, Jaipur Rugs, Henzel, Kristiina Lassus, and Villari — contributed furniture, lighting, rugs, and decorative elements. Each was chosen not for individual brilliance, but for how it serves the whole. The result is an environment where comfort is immediate but depth emerges gradually, where a guest might notice something new on their third visit that escaped them on their first.
This is what we believe hospitality design should feel like: a place worth savouring and returning to.
