MIKE WILSON

Mike carries astute leadership behind the scenes that allow the OBMI team to focus on what matters most – designing exceptional spaces for our clients. We stay nimble, flexible, and true to our boutique approach thanks to Mike’s strategic role managing the financial, human resources, IT, legal, and business matters at OBMI. His past experience in corporate restructuring showed him first-hand how boardroom decisions affect employees, families, and the wider community, and that “off balance sheet” issues are often more important than the numbers.

Under Mike’s leadership, OBMI redefined its core business areas into Centres of Excellence, capitalizing on the expertise of senior staff and the firm’s boutique management approach. Mike also successfully led OBMI through the financial crisis of 2008 and created a Junior Board to identify and prepare potential leaders of the firm. The Junior Board initiates and manages projects that can improve both internal and external OBMI processes.

Mike began his professional career as a chartered accountant with KPMG in London, where he spent 10 years restructuring and running various companies. He holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting and financial analysis from Newcastle University and is an Associate Chartered Accountant. He’s a sportsman who has played soccer, rugby, and squash and has completed several Ironman triathlons since moving to Miami. An avid reader, traveler, and wine connoisseur, Mike completed his Wine & Spirits Education Trust Level 3 exam.
