Framing the view is the key element of this resort, and was a beautiful anchor to the design. It’s evidenced in the tranquillity of the guest’s journey through the almost ceremonial arrival sequence. This procession slowly unfolds the vista, just as it does the tension of travelling, until you are gifted a panorama and first impressions that transfix the gaze. The choreography of moving through the spaces is subtly punctuated by detail such as light apertures and reflecting ponds, never enclosed knowing the pristine environment requires no intervention.

The treehouse effect is nested into a commonality of design with pavilioned zones carefully placed to not disturb the topography. A restaurant feels like a discovered jewel amongst the vegetation, with a sense of individuality and intimacy. Not a grand obvious reception but rather another sense of deconstructed home where things take place.

The walking distance and an almost indiscernible natural amphitheatre was the perfect spot for fitness and well-being in gentle proximity to the spa. Yoga by the water one day, and in a sunken garden the next, a kid’s area that acknowledges acoustics, all encouraging a nomadic experience of space without being obvious.

The jewel of the design is the Rock Bar which is away from the quiet of the resort’s centre. Highlighting nature’s work, this distinctive dining and lounge concept will become the property’s social nexus allowing guests to dine under the stars before returning to the blissful privacy of the resort. Our clients loved the poetry of our design embracing our innovative ideas for indulgent, locally-inspired journeys and experiences to allow the resort to become a sought-after vacation destination and resort playground for the international jet set.

We designed from the outside in, and we were already indoctrinated into a “Sense of Place” for Rosewood as it’s how we always work. We treated everything with the same importance and relevance as they do.
