Tim Peck sits down with Boston Globe writer, Jon Marcus, to examine the future of travel and how design teams, like OBMI’s own Innovation Lab, are pushing us further into the future of hospitality. 

As trusted advisors to the some of the most notable hospitality brands, the OBMI understands how to create a truly memorable guest experience. Moving into the future of hospitality, our designers are rethinking design and taking inspiration from anywhere. Tim says, “Every hotel you’re sitting in, you’re thinking, ‘How could they do this better? Why do I have to crawl under the desk to plug in my charger?”

OBMI’s rationale behind the Innovation Lab projects, Aera, Habitare, and the concept created with the Hotel of Tomorrow think tank hosted by The Gettys Group, is to anticipate the needs of future travelers. With this, comes exploration into the environment, cultures, and new ways to push the boundaries in design.

“One of the things we love to say is how can you provide that surprise and delight, those unexpected moments that will really register with the guest and that they take home with them and tell their friends,” Peck said.
