Seven disciplines, one way of seeing.

Before a project is envisioned, a line drawn, or a foundation laid, OBMI asks: how does a place make us feel?

That question comes from nine decades in hospitality, where we learned that how a place performs for its owners and operators is inseparable from the guest's experience of being there. That understanding shapes how we approach every project, whether or not hospitality is the brief.

Whether a client engages OBMI for strategic advice before a brief exists, or for the design of a space already under construction, the work begins by reading the place.

That reading governs every decision that follows, through to completion. Storytelling holds it together, tying the identity of a place to the decisions made in its name.

Each discipline carries its own depth, and the seven rarely stand alone. On any single project they overlap and inform one another, with strategy and design developed side by side from the earliest conversations.

Practice and Approach

Every discipline begins with the same question: what does this place ask of us?
